Real correction only wounds the ego.

The Bible says, “iron sharpens iron,” and the sharper the iron, the more friction there is. The size of your ego often determines the level of discomfort you feel when being corrected. Correction can rub us the wrong way—it challenges us, confronts us, and reveals what’s in us. It will always strike pride and ego.

But when we receive correction with the right posture—humility—we begin to see it for what it truly is: an expression of love, intended to help us grow and become better.

If we embrace correction and process it with the purpose it was given, we will come out sharper, more precise, and more effective. Just like iron sharpens the blade of a sword or spear, correction refines and strengthens us.

So, check yourself when your ego feels bruised. Don’t reject the correction—adjust your posture. Choose humility. Receive the benefit of correction given in love.
